Cork 21AUG09 0-1

Disappointing result against Cork. If beforehand someone had told you that Cork would emerge one nil winners you'd have probably said it was fairly likely but for those at the game last night it's less likely that they'd say 1-0 reflected how it should have been at the death.

The gods of football were very mischievious last night - rewarding Eric McGill for his efforts at tracking back with an own goal. Unfair to the lad and unfair to the Drogs. Plenty of games left to secure safety, which, judging by our operformances (if not our results) lately, looks increasingly likely. Fingers crossed.

Interestingly enough, did any of ye spot the Boylesport Peno Competition at half time? Turned out that Drogs won that one 1-0
in a reversal of the reuslt of the main event. An elegant stroke to the top left corner by the big lad.

epic week

Been away on holidays for the past week (Saturday to Saturday) so I missed three epic results for the drogs - Draw at Tallaght, win over the langers at home and a good point saved in Galway.

I was never off the texts to the lads and on the edge of me sunbed throughout each of the games.

Looking fwd to the cup game against Rovers but with 5 points from three games I think I'll go away more often!

One nil to Bohs- last kick of game :-(

Can't believe it. This cruel cruel game. We nearly had the champions in their own backyard. Crowley sent off on 88 for a late tackle on Jason Byrne, probably borne out of fatigue. O'Connor on and had a decent chance but ref didn't allow play to go on. Another sign of how we deserved something. Then the stupidest of stupid tackles by Whelan in last ten seconds on Brennan on the endline. Keegan picks out young Mark Hughes and we're sunk. Can't face the drive home. Injustice. Bohs did not deserve three points. Bray and Dundalk also lost.

Just a thought here but that lad Hughes is only playing because Bohs have numerous injuries but he's had three caps and scored three goals. When they get their lads fit again they may want to let him out on loan. If Alan Matthews has his thinking cap on, he'll have a word with the young lad and Nutsy about getting him some regular first team football in the premier league with us.

Right I'm off home to cry!

Bohs game

Watchin the Bohs game here. Some great pressure from our lads in first part of second half. Deservedly still in it at nil nil half time. King just came on for Shiels.
Keep it up lads!

Barrat had lovely shot from tight angle in first half. Jason Byrne also had an excellent chance in second for them.

Dundalk half time

We look good tonight. Can't say whether it was a penalty but that doesn't matter it was given and converted. But then just before half time turner gets .his second yellow for a blatant elbow. But there was still time before the break for an equaliser.

Dundalk prematch

Ready for kick off. Great display of flags. Heart is doin ninety

Bray 0(0) - Drogs 1(1) 08MAY09

Sorry Dudes and dudettes, didn't actually make this game cos of work commitments - so I'll keep this report to the bare facts, although I might have to start missing a few more games cos we scored our first win of the league campaign last Friday.

On 31 minutes, Brian King finished off a move that by all accounts had started with Davy O'Connor who moved the ball to Jamie Duffy but his shot was a little wayward and King was on hand to tap in at the back post.

Deans was sent off for Bray in the second half  (73 min.s) - an off the ball incident, it seems - naughty boy! Williams had made two fine saves either side of the red card to keep us in the hunt.

I've had two feelings about this season one being that we have a decent chance if we can take points off Bray. The second being that I reckon there's plenty of time to get points in the last three series of games especially now that the team are getting settled together.

Really looking forward to next week's encounter with our close friends from El Paso - Friday at 7.45, you know you want to!

DUISC

EA Sports Cup Sporting Fingal (H) 0 - 2

A respectable first half performance but not much to report. Skinner did well to deny ex-Drog Zayed.

Davy O'Connor had a decent chance but was unlucky early in second half - his confidence on the ball in the final third of the pitch seems to be rising in recent weeks.

With about twenty minutes to go a wayward ball from Chambers, who to be fair to him has been the main engine of much of our good work and a standout performer of the new batch of drogs, allowed Sporting in for their first. Afterwards, despite having many chances and much of the possession, it looked like we might be there all night and not score.

An all out attack which included Netminder Skinner in the dying seconds broke down rather toothlessly and Conan Byrne broke from his own box, ran most of the pitch and slotted in number two with virtually the last kick of the game.

I suppose it means at least we can concentrate on the league now and there's less chance of picking up injuries in cup games.
